Police demonstrations in Italy

On November 19th, all the public security unions have demonstrated their mobilization against the draft Stability law, in more than 100 Italian cities. This draft stipulates, among others, the extension, for the fourth consecutive year, of the salaries freezing, the resources cut to pay overtime work, the non-replacement of retired security staff, the continued reduction in recruitments and the progressive and regular increase of the average age of the staff.
This afternoon, the protest march has culminated with a manifestation in front of the Palazzo Chigi, Italian Parliament’s seat, where all unions have asked the Government to change the actual draft Stability law, which will make the security system collapse.
The Secretary – General of SAP, Nicola TANZI, has been interviewed by several televisions, and explained the frustration encountered by the police forces members.
