On March 30th and 31st 2006, the ASPP/PSP organized at Peniche (Portugal) a conference on "The police of proximity". The Secretary general of the CESP participated in this meeting and denounced the Home Affairs Minister’s refusal to put the indispensable structures in place for a real social dialogue.
On this occasion, Sébastian Roché, French sociologist and author of the book "Police de proximité, Nos politiques de sécurité " Editeur: Seuil, made known his point of view. Mr. Rui Pereira (Coordinator of the structure created under the aegis of the Ministry of the Portuguese Justice "For the conception, the support and the development of the projects on the reform of the penal legislation") made a presentation on "The security forces in the framework of the reform of the Penal Procedure Code".
350 police officers, members of the ASPP-PSP, attended this meeting and the television with the Press covered it.
The absence of the Minister of Internal Affairs and of his representatives - guests - has been underlined.
