On 18th and 19th October in Moscow the Secretary general of the CESP – as Vice President of the Liaison Committe of INGO’s – attended the Forum for the Future of Democracy. The theme was “The Role of Political Parties in the Building of Democracy”.
The Forum brought together some 300 participants representing political parties from the Council of Europe’s 46 member states, European party networks, public authorities and civil society from all over Europe, as well as numerous experts. Boris Gryzlov, President of the State Duma, Sergey Lavrov, Russia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Chairman-in-Office of the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers, Terry Davis, the Organisation’s Secretary General, René van der Linden, President of the Parliamentary Assembly and Annelise Oeschger, President of INGO’s Conference addressed the participants.
On 20th October, at Moscow, the members of the above INGO’s delegation paid homage to the journalist Anna Politkovskaya at the place where she was murdered.
